Estimate book reading time from pages and personal pace

A page count becomes useful only when it is paired with a page rate. Enter the pages in the edition you will actually read and a pace measured from similar pages. The calculator returns continuous reading time; daily plan mode turns the same total into whole .

Measure pages per hour with a short sample

Time a representative section, convert the elapsed time to hours, and divide pages by that time. Reading 20 in 40 is 20 ÷ (40 ÷ 60) = 30 . Reading 50 in 2 is 25 . Those are measured rates, not slow or fast labels; the useful question is whether the sample resembles the rest of the book and your intended reading style.

Turn total time into a daily reading plan

Daily plan divides the engine's total minutes by the time available each and rounds up. For the 120-page, 40- example, the total is 180 min. At 30 /, that becomes 6 and 20 /. The result assumes a session on every planned and does not assign calendar dates.

Page density, edition, and reading purpose change the pace

Pages are not uniform units of text. A larger type size, illustrations, footnotes, equations, or a different edition can change both page count and pace. A result such as 70 therefore should not receive a universal performance label. Measure from the edition and kind of reading that matter: quick familiar reading, close study, annotation, and rereading are different tasks.
